Friday Five and Update

Friday Five

1. List five things you'd like to accomplish by the end of the year.
I would like to spend more time with my family, clean out my garage so I can get my car in there, get "caught up" financially, finish knitting my quilt, have a great Christmas and Turkey day.

2. List five people you've lost contact with that you'd like to hear from again.
I can only think of my 2 friends from my short-lived college days. She was the maid of honor in our wedding and he was her husband. I'd also like to hear from my former boss and mentor to see how she is doing. It's been too long!

3. List five things you'd like to learn how to do.
I just taught myself how to knit, but only the basics, so I'd like to learn how to knit better. I'd also like to learn how to paint, speak french, and sign language. I've also always wanted to learn how to do pottery/sculpture.

4. List five things you'd do if you won the lottery (no limit).
Pay off all our debts, buy a lot of land (yes, in Virginia!), build and furnish 3 houses (one for us, one for John's sister, and one for John's Mom), move everyone here, buy a Volvo SUV.

5. List five things you do that help you relax.
Hot baths, manicures, pedicures, knitting, reading.

Short Update

Hello everyone! It's been awhile since I posted, but I feel compelled to do so, as other have (peer pressures.....). Here's a short breakdown about what's going on:

Work Really, it's all been about work lately. I'm working 10-12 hours a day, 5 days a week, and then half a day on most Saturdays. It's peak season as we are getting the stores ready for the Holiday Shopping sprees. I will be so glad when it is over! Hopefully, just a couple of more weeks of this crazy schedule and then it will be back to normal, or as normal as normal can be. :) It's been heavy duty work, too. I spend, on average 1 - 2 days out on the floor work with the material handlers. Everything from shipping to picking merchandise. I've done every area, which has been a great experience. I have a whole new respect for the hard work out there!

Home Home is great. John's mom has been visiting this last week, which has been nice. The kids really like to have her around, especially Maddie. John has been super supportive about all the work hours I've been putting in and not giving me too much grief. Makes it much less stressful to know that I am not going to catch hell at home when I get home. I think the most frustrating thing for him is the fact I am so zoned out when I get home. I'm falling asleep before Maddie does most nights. This too shall pass, though!

We went to visit the SECEP program for Sebastian yesterday. I had a wee bit of a meltdown while we were touring the class. It was the sudden realization that the kids in the room reminded me of Sebastian in one way or another, and they were in a "special class." I need to get over the stigma and realize that it's probably for the best to put Sebastian there. He has really been under a lot of stress with all of the work at school and his anxiety level has gone up. He has a couple of kids who are teasing him, and he doesn't understand why. The lady who runs the program observed Sebastian awhile ago and recommended him for this program. She feels, and I agree, that it will teach him how to handle situations better. It's a small class, only 6-8 students. He will be doing 4th grade academic work, which was a big concern I had. It will just be taught to him in a way he will better be able to comprehend and retain the information. I think we've decided that Sebastian will go there. We talked to Sebastian last night about it and he seems to understand. He's nervous, because it's a big change, but I know he will do great!

Okay, so much for my "little" update!

Friday Five

1. What food do you like that most people hate?

I can't really think of a food that I like that most people hate. I like sushi, and I know a lot of people (especially here in the country) think that's crazy. I also enjoy mixing my cold cereals, which John thinks is weird.

2. What food do you hate that most people love?

Again, can't really think of one. There are not a lot of foods that I won't eat.

3. What famous person, whom many people may find attractive, is most unappealing to you?

I've never understand the allure of Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise.

4. What famous person, whom many people may find unappealing, do you find attractive?

Can't think of one....

5. What popular trend baffles you?

I'm so out of the loop on trends right now. The only thing I can think of is baggy pants. I don't understand why I must see your boxer shorts.....
