It's been so long since I posted an update I hardly know where to begin. Actually I don't know where to begin because nothing much has happened. But, here goes.
We're firmly in the midst of our bizarre Oklahoma winter. Bizarre because you never know what you're going to get to from one week, or even one day to the next. Last week it was below freezing continuously for about five days straight and this week it's been as high as 60 although today its only about 35 degrees. I was outside with the vet while she looked over the horses and my face was so numb I sounded drunk when I talked (and No! I wasn't actually drunk!). It was probably the wind chill.
Speaking of the horses, they are perfectly healthy. I just wanted the vet to come out and look them over to make sure. Private looks a little on the thin side to me but he is a Thoroughbred and unless you feed them massive amounts of grain they always have ribs showing. Since he's more or less just a pasture ornament until it warms up outside he doesn't need the excess grain. The vet said he looked perfectly fine for his size. Chloe is as spunky as ever. I put her in the round pen while the vet was here and she ran around it bucking and farting and throwing her head in the air. I can't wait to get on her and ride. We bought a saddle and a bridle but, like I said, it's too damn cold for me to ride! Plus, with the lack of daylight hours during the winter I don't have time to do much during the week. I am however taking riding lessons again. I have my first one on Saturday. My first one in twenty years! I don't think I ever talked about it much but I rode and showed horses for about 5 years as a teenager. I'm nervous about getting on a horse again and having someone critique what I do. I'm not nervous about the actual riding just the looking like a fool part. I need to go buy some baggy jeans tomorrow so my butt doesn't look bigger than the horse's.
I'm busier than ever both at the office and with the personal cheffing. I'm cooking three days this week amd I have two clients who want me to cook for them every week. That means no one at the office will see my sweet face on Mondays or Thursdays. It's already caused a little tension at the office but, as I've said before, they've had since MAY to do something about it. However, I'm still responsible for the megahuge giganto annual report to the National Assoc. of Insurance Commissioners which is due March 1st. This report is a fricking 1/2 inch bound book and I prepare 90% of it. Ah...Annual Statement time...80 hour weeks and endless frustation. At least I'll actually get paid for working all those hours. I'm so glad I'm not salary anymore. Ok, enough whining about work.
Other than horses and work nothing much is happening. Our lives are very uneventful. I can't even remember the last movie we saw in the theater. Larry had a job interview today that he thought went well. But no biggie if doesn't get it, he still has his job at Xeta. That's about it folks!
