1. Are you superstitious?
I’ve been thinking about this for quite a while and I don’t think I am. Friday the 13th, walking under ladders, Black Cats, none of them bother me. I will however hang the horseshoes with the ends pointing up so the luck doesn’t run out.

2. What extremes have you heard of someone going to in the name of superstition?
My friend Trina has a saying for when a black cat crosses her path, which I can’t remember at the moment. She also told me she’ll change directions and drive around the block if a hearse crosses her path. Something about eluding death. I told her that has nothing to do with eluding death and everything to do with growing up in Alabama because “Y’all don’t know better.” She didn’t think that was funny. When my grandmother was growing up they wouldn’t walk across the road in the middle of the night. Some Irish superstition. They also believed in ghosts.

3. Believer or not, what's your favorite superstition?
I like the four-leaf clover one and the horse shoe one. I have an easier time believing in the lucky vs. unlucky ones.

4. Do you believe in luck? If yes, do you have a lucky number/article of clothing/ritual?
I prefer to call it intuition. Quite often we’re led by our subconscious without even being aware of it. Opportunities are always in front us. We just don’t always see them. Being in the right place at the right time is all about being receptive to that opportunity at that moment. With that being said, my grandmother wore the same gold lame shoes during every 49’er game for years and they won during that time, a lot. Now that she’s gone and the shoes are buried with her they haven’t been doing so well. Hmmmm.

5. Do you believe in astrology? Why or why not?
This is fun for its entertainment value but I really can’t give it much credibility. How could the alignment of the stars and planets at the moment of my birth affect my personality or determine my fate? Horoscopes are just vague enough to seem as if they fit. I also think if you are a Cancer and you believe Cancer’s should act a certain way you will start to act in that way to validate your believe. I do it when I take personality tests. When I first took the Myers-Briggs test I found out I’m an INTP. I’ve taken different forms of that test since and I find myself answering the questions in such a way that will result in an INTP score, even if I wanted to answer differently. Because I believe that’s who I should be, I subconsciously try to score that way every time. I also find myself sometimes answering personality questions based on who I want to be rather than who I actually am. Where am I going with this? Oh…no I don’t put much faith in astrology.
