What's on my mind...

What's on my mind...

As of late I think a lot about how horrifying Bush is. The first debate scared me. To look into those beady little eyes as he talks is to look into the eyes of a someone who clearly has no clue. His mind is filled with the information others have given him, but he has no idea how to sift through it all and make decisions himself. Any minute now I expect him to say, "look, I just do what Cheney and the Republican Party tell me to do, I have no clue as to what it all means".

We are still waiting to hear from the school district as to what we are going to do for Keegan. Brie has started doing online research on highly gifted education and we are learning all kinds of new things. One of the first things I noticed was that there is a general consensus that says skipping grades does not have the emotional and social empact most parents think. It seems to be based on the fact that your child isn't relating to the kids his age anyway, which is true. Keegan doesn't understand why all the kids in his class don't know all the answers already and why they don't like the things he likes. He is enjoying his new found celebrity a little too much. His school is so small everyone already knows what is going on. It's been a good thing so far because everyone seems to see him like a kid with a cool toy. Older kids come up to him and ask him math problems and then marvel at the fact that he can answer them faster than they can. But, he told me the other day he was "smarter than everyone" and I had to give him a little reality check. Still a lot to do though, so we'll see. He has already started going to the second grade class to work with them and he loves it, so that is a good sign.

It looks like we are going to finally join the YMCA. It's going to be a gift from my Mom. The kids should be starting their swim classes on November 8. Sebastian wants to take Karate after that. I'm hoping Keegan will want to get into basketball or tennis. The YMCA gives us many more choices than our current Gymnastics center.

My mom got back from California last week and we are very glad to have her home. We have lots to do to get her settled in like going to the DMV.

We got a second Tivo after Sebastian spilled a glass of water into the DirecTV box in my mom's room and ruined it. We got the 70 hour model from Best Buy for the same price DirecTV offers the 35 hour model .. so cool!

It's official the 49'ers suck suck suck this year. But the Seahawks are rockin' But, they really blew the 2nd half on Sunday and ended up losing the game.

A month to go until I'm 37 .. I was really hoping to go to Vegas, but I don't think it's going to happen. Money is just too tight. Maybe Brie and I will be able to go out on a date to one the sushi places we recently heard about that are suppose to be really good.

The weather is gorgeous, October and November are always so lovely. The humidity is gone, it tends to stay in the low 70's. The leaves are starting to change colors. I just love this time of year .. now until next March. I can't wait to see the snow again.

One of the benefits of having my mom move back in is that I have access to all the Super 8mm films we shot growing up. I really need to see if I can convert them to video tape.

Ok.. enough rambling.
