No Syracuse

We found out today that Syracuse wasn't going to be an option if we move back east. They simply aren't going to have a position based there. The latest is that it would be in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Personally I'm very hesitant. Information I've read on the web indicates that Grand Rapids could be the most conservative town in the US outside of the "Bible Belt". That would not sit well with me. Brie and I are not Christians (we are studying Buddhism), my best friend (godmother to my children) is black, and I have strong ties to the gay/lesbian/bi community. Living in a place where my lifestyle and choices would make it very hard for me to fit in and make friends is not my idea of a wise move, plus I don't want my kids to live in a place of intolerance.

I'm trying to keep an open mind, Brie is still very interested in the move and moving to a place with a lower cost of living is definitely something we have to seriously think about, especially if we ever plan to buy a house again.

On a happier note starting laying down the itenerary for my 35th Birthday Vegas trip which is 2 weeks away!! Finding that we will probably have to substitute the higher priced things I wanted to do with free things or this trip is going to be absolutely too expensive. There is always the hope that at the blackjack table the trip can pay for itself.

Things must change

Sitting here I realized I haven't really updated my Blog recently so here it goes. Christmas is swiftly approaching here. In our family the traditional holliday season is extended with the addition of a few birthdays as well. Actually the only month we don't actually celebrate something is April. November and December though are the most intense.

I'll be 35 soon. So this month I'll be having a party here and then Brie, my sister, and I will be meeting up with Cait in Las Vegas for a couple nights at New York New York. I am so looking forward to that. Brie and I haven't gone away for a night in over a year. We'll be back the day before Thanksgiving and then have Thanksgiving here, at least I think we are having it here.

My mom will be here for the hollidays this Saturday. I'm looking forward to her visit.

We might have an opportunity to move to the East at the beginning of the year. It would either be to Syracuse, NY or Ohio. More on that if things develop further.

I actually have a lot more that I'd like to write, but no time right now.
