Garbage: beautifulgarbage

beautifulgarabge (CD)
Artist: Garbage
cover

I actually received this CD as a birthday gift last year, but since I think it's the newest CD I have I thought I should review it. I asked for this album without hearing a single track because both of their previous albums contain some outstanding music. This album is no exception and though the album isn't groundbreaking it does push what they do musically further along. My favorite track is Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go) as catchy a post-new wave song as you'll ever hear. This album like their previous is also too long for my taste, the albums length causes it to suffer from a lack of flow. I think they could have removed a couple of tracks and made the album a much better listen. All in all though 3 months after getting it I'm still popping it in every couple of weeks for a listen.

State and Main

State and Main (DVD)
Starring: a cast too large to mention
Synopsis: See IMDB
cover

This movie was written and directed by David Mamet, since I'm not a fan of any of his previous screenwriting or directing attempts we rented this because of the cast and premise. It is actually a very good movie being at once a satirical view at hollywood film making and containing a very wonderful love story. IT has a good twist at the end and great performances by all. Another movie that falls in line with my taste of subtle and smart humour.

The Big Tease

The Big Tease (DVD)
Starring Craig Ferguson
Synopsis: See IMDB

Co-written by Ferguson we rented this movie because we really liked Saving Grace the most recent movie he has written. I really enjoy humour that doesn't rely on juvenile antics and gross out. This movie is smart, satirical and very well done. Plenty of cameos and an excellent supporting cast including a personal fave Donal Logue.
